We decided rather spur-of-the-moment to camp out the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. It was a nice day, warm, but nice. We decided we'd put up the tent right off our back porch, it fit perfectly between the porch and our new "fire pit". So, Trevor (who was beside himself with excitement) helped Nathan set up the tent and the campsite. Cody immediately retreived his sleeping bag and pop gun --just in case. :o) Everything was set up just in time for dusk....and some clouds. There were storms to the N of us. We figured we'd give it a go and see what happens. Nathan built a fire in our pit and we roasted hot dogs and had ice cream--one of the perks of camping at home! :o) We each shared campfire stories and giggles and the boys caught lightening bugs. Soon it was time for bed. We got all set up in the tent (we used an extention cord to run an oscillating fan to give us some air--another perk to camping at home) and Nathan got our dog, Max. Max didn't know what to think of the tent. He was really weirded out....what on earth were we doing?! :o) He started out in his pet bed, but soon joined me on my sleeping bag for the remainder of the night. It was a decent sleep, but not a sound sleep. We woke around 5:30ish --well, the boys and I woke up....once they're awake, there's no going back to sleep! We went in the house and showered all the bug spray off from the night before and I fixed breakfast. We enjoyed having an extra day of our weekend to rest after our campout. Fun memories!!
