Disney Vacation

We are home. We had a great vacation. It was VERY busy, VERY H-O-T!!! and VERY FUN!!! We left Friday the 11th around noon and traveled to Birmingham, AL stopping to rest for the night. The next morning we headed out to FL....arriving at Disney World between 8 and 9 pm ET. We spent 4 days in the parks....one day at each park, Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. We made our way through each park via a "touring plan" we used via a book "The Unofficial Guide to Disney World". This plan allows you to hit the highlights of each park in one day. It's a lot to take in...believe me....but we were able to pretty much stay ahead of the crowds, for the most part anyway. There is no way we would have been able to experience half of what we did had we not studied up and used those touring plans. We left the Disney "compound"--I called it that b/c we were on Disney property the entire time, using their transportation to and from and somewhat "secluded" from the rest of the world--on TH and drove an hour East to Cocoa Beach, FL. We had a great day in the ocean--the water was nearly like bath water and no jelly fish!! The kids did not stop moving--running in and out of the water, swimming, building sandcastles, etc, the entire time we were there. We were all really sunburt though!! Whew!! Cody's little face was SOOO R-E-D!!! And Trevor's entire back looked like he was a roofer!! We didn't reapply the sunscreen early enough and thorough enough. Lesson learned! :o) We stayed the night in Cocoa Beach, driving a few miles over to Kennedy Space Center on Cape Canaveral--they were closed, but we did get to see the shuttle and the boosters for it. WOW! We left for home the following day, Friday. Just a few hours into our drive, we witnessed a scary accident about 100 feet in front of us--an SUV lost control and ended up overturning around 2-3 times. Their luggage, etc flew out of the car onto the interstate. We pulled over to offer any assistance we could--water bottles, towels, etc. To the glory of God, everyone in the car was okay--including two young children. The only injuries were cuts and bumps! We were all shaken after witnessing that, knowing they, like us, were on vacation and also knowing we were still in FL and had MILES and MILES yet to travel. We made it safely to Birmingham, AL, again for the night and then completed our trip, arriving safely home (thank you Jesus!) Saturday evening. I will post pictures of each of our days in the parks later.
