Wild week and back to the grind

It has been hard to get back into our routine after such a nice Christmas break. However, we have trudged through and are so glad to be approaching a weekend yet again! Trevor has done well going back to school...he was reluctant at first, but has enjoyed the activity. We were late a few times this week--having to sign him in in the office....I hate that--namely Tuesday morning after our rough night! We have greatly improved as the week went on.

After a mild weather weekend--we broke records with temps into the mid 70's--the week started off with a real bang. Our region was pummeled with very strong thunderstorms and some tornadoes. Yes, it is the first full week of JANUARY! We were fortunate to just have a few strong storms roll through during the overnight hours, we did lose power for a couple hours around 1:30am, but we were lucky. Some of the towns to the north and southwest of us didn't fare so well, with Monett MO under what seemed to be a constant Tornado warning. Trevor spent the majority of the night in bed with Nathan and I--he doesn't like storms. Cody, however, slept through the ENTIRE night--storms, wind, power outage and all! Springfield rec'd some damage here and there. Joplin didn't have any damage, but nearly the entire city is under a boil order this week after some flooding of Shoal Creek (which is next to the city's water pump or whatever) has caused some, shall we say, "dirty" water. We are NOT affected by this, thank goodness. It was such a nice weekend and we really did enjoy being outside in short sleeves--even though I argued that it was January--we should have SNOW--especially for my birthday! It did make me anxious for those gorgeous spring days! By mid morning Tuesday, we were reminded it is indeed January and the temps are back around "normal". Our local weather man has predicted an "active" February as far as snow goes. I'm looking forward to that.....save the tornadoes for spring!
