Weekend at the cabin

We left Friday afternoon for a weekend at a cabin in AR. Mom and Dad have been down to these cabins a couple of times and really enjoyed themselves, so they thought it would be nice for all of us to join them sometime. The cabin is located about an hour or so south of Harrison, AR, near Ponco. It's near the Buffalo River and an Elk habitat. We celebrated mom and dad's birthdays Friday night and Saturday took a 3 mile hike in Lost Valley. We saw lots of roaring creek streams and HUGE rocks that have fallen off the of bluffs above. We saw several waterfalls--one very large one--and Dad, Nathan, Libby and the boys hiked up to the top of the "mountain" into a cave. You had to crawl through a two foot or so high opening to get back into the cave. I opted to sit and nature/people watch a little lower down the hill. Hiking is a little rough when you're not used to it. :-) It was a gorgeous day to be outside and enjoy nature. Trevor and Cody thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Trevor is such an outdoors lover! He practically ran on the trail. After a nice afternoon nap (minus dad and Libby who took another hike to a really high rock--I'll get pics from Libby to share) we had dinner and watched Ratatouille. Sunday we headed home--but not before stopping at the Buffalo river to "fish". Trevor looked forward to fishing and hadn't had an opportunity yet, so he made about 3 casts and passed off his fishing pole to throw rocks and explore! :-) We watched some guys and their dog--complete with lifejacket--get into their canoe on the river.....TOO COLD!! It was a nice weekend. We were home in time to have our usual Sunday afternoon nap, which was extra nice after being in strange beds. HEre are some of the pictures from our weekend.
