This past weekend Nathan, the boys and Poppy went camping. This is the first time either of the boys have been camping. They LOVED it!! They were so excited when they left on Friday and tired, but still excited when they came home Saturday. (Trevor was extra excited b/c he got to leave school early Friday!) :o) They met Poppy in Aurora and canoed to a long gravel bank on Flat Creek. They set up camp and grilled chicken and chicken nuggets! :o) Poppy brought some biscuits and apple butter--which totally won over the boys. They made smore's--although Nathan said no one ate them. :o) Trevor had a great time making "meteors" out of marshmallows in the fire! And Cody spent a lot of time looking for crawdads in the river with his headlamp on. During the night, Nathan awoke to lots of hoof-steps on the gravel--they assumed it was cattle, and they left upon discovering the campers. Saturday morning, they ate bacon, eggs and cinnamon rolls with orange juice. They fished and looked for crawdads and then canoed their way to their take-out point. They got home about 5:30 and they were exhausted!! After they cleaned up, we had a nice family evening with pizza and a movie--and early bedtime!! They have talked and talked about their fun trip! They can't wait to do it again next year!! Here are some pics Poppy took and sent to us.
