Generating....

I am writing this to you via the power of a generator. We are now at 3 days w/o power! Friday morning about 7:15, we lost power in the midst of a thunderstorm....which brought winds in excess of 90 mph!! We spent an hour or so in our basement watching the wind literally swirl around outside and throw twigs and leaves and branches. Our next-door neighbor had two LARGE trees fall, breaking a third tree off in their fall, skimming the edge of her house and thus blocking her garage door. Her bedroom is just a couple feet from the tree--she's very lucky. The roots on the tree alone are masive. Amazing! They're just uprooted. We only sustained one medium size branch and several smaller branches and twigs. The NBC station in Joplin had their new digital tower fall on their building--crushing a couple of cars nearby as well. We took a drive to view the damage around town and saw lots of uprooted trees--but they're sparsely located. Meaning, there's no "pattern" to the damage. With a tornado, you can clearly see the "path" of damage. With this storm it is a here-and-there. Strangest thing! School was cancelled on Friday morning--lots of students were already at school and rode out the storm there--only to be dismissed at 11. Nathan's work was out of power too, so he had a 3-day weekend! The Lord blessed us with 2 beautiful days this weekend to be outside and not have to be inside with no power. Plus, every night He's provided a beautiful, bright full moon to stream through the windows. We've gone through lots of batteries this weekend keeping flashlights on--mostly as "night-lights" for the boys. :o) We are ready for the power to be back on and have some "normalcy", but thankful because it could have been a lot worse. Cooincidentally, this storm fell just 2 days before the one-year annivesary of the tornado that affected so many here, including some good friends of ours. I will certainly post more when we have full power! Hopefully soon!

****UPDATE******
We just got our power back about Noon today!! We are so glad!
