Trevor was back in school today and so glad to be b/c he gets to celebrate his birthday with classmates. He was very concerned and a little upset yesterday b/c he didn't think he'd get his birthday hat and pencil/eraser from school. (Every student wears a birthday hat to lunch and the principal calls them up and announces their birthday, gives them a choice between 6 hugs or 6 "spankings" and then they get to pick out a pencil and eraser.) I explained that no one was at school yesterday, so what they would have done then, they'll do today. We joined him at lunch today and he was proudly wearing his birthday hat! He enjoyed a grilled cheese sandwich from Sonic and we had McDonald's. Mrs. Green, the principal, was in a meeting, so her assistant lead the lunch activities. Trevor was so proud to have his turn to stand up front and be sung to. Surprisingly, he chose 6 hugs.....he's always said, with a smile, that he's going to choose spankings. :-) He will get to choose his pencil later today, due to Mrs. Green's meeting. He is the snack person today, and he took a cookie cake and some treat bags I made up for him to pass out as well. His teacher, Mrs. Metcalf was ill today--even though she was there upon arrival at school today--she said she was leaving. She didn't look well--perhaps the flu/nasty cold. That's disappointing--that she won't be able to lead class and their celebration with Trevor, but I know she will give her wishes when she returns. For now, I'm working on Trevor's cake for his birthday parties tomorrow. We have a party with school friends at 10 and one with local family at 6. Busy day! Hope the weather and health hold out!! Will post those pics on Monday .
