Portions of the following were sent by our Pastor in an e-mail yesterday. I really liked what he had to say. and found convicting for today:
Let me begin by telling you that a huge mistake made by the Christians in our nation is to fall under the delusion that God lives in one political party and not the other. The fact is simply that God lives in His church and that is us. It is the role of the church to be the watch-dog of all political parties and politicians in general. We represent the moral voice in the culture and need to be prepared to speak out boldly when either party's policies or actions violate God's clear teachings........Our job is not only to be the watch-dog of a nation but the prayer warriors for it. No matter who wins the election, our job does not change. We must pray for all in authority over us. Pray for God's wisdom to overwhelm them in ways that would honor God and lead this nation. The Apostle Paul wrote these clear words in 1 Timothy 2:1-2. "I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness." Paul prayed for the very governments that would eventually execute him. ..... A final word of encouragement. RELAX a bit! God is not up for election. He will never leave His throne and will always be in total control of His creation. God is ultimately in charge of who occupies thrones and political positions. Historically God has allowed leaders to be in place to bless or punish a nation. The point is - God is reigning supreme. "Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." (Romans 13:1; see also 1 Peter 2:13-15)
Neither our job nor our attitude of confidence will change today. We are members of an eternal kingdom which exists temporarily in this world to make a difference and represent God to a lost and dying world. Keep the faith!

this was a great message. That is exactly how I have felt through the entire election process. I really felt like no matter what it is in God's hands. Thanks for putting this out there!!
