Playing Catch Up

We've been busy here the last few weeks. I've not been at the computer as much lately either. I've not been the best at setting up posts for the blog even in my absence. I am making time today to set up posts to catch up on what's been going on here in the Herndon House.

Trevor is enjoying school. His favorite thing to do is play "kickball". However, I think the 2nd grade boys version is just "who can kick the highest". In fact, as the weather turned cooler and made cause for wearing jeans, he was greatly distraught b/c the jeans don't allow him to kick as high as he can when he's wearing shorts. :o) Oh the trials..... He is doing well in school. We just had Parent/Teacher conferences last week. Trevor was the first student in his class to reach the 50 point club. (Remember last year, I posted about this reading program in his 1st/2nd grade school and the point incentives they offer) It took him the majority of the school year last year to reach the 50 pt club, and this year he reached it right at the end of the 1st quarter!! He is reading, reading, reading!! Last Monday was Trevor's last flag football game. He was so excited to receive an actual trophy! Every other sport he's played, they have received a "medal"--which is usually a dog-tag type of medal with that sports info on it. He has also been eating the school's lunches every day! All through Kindergarten and the majority of 1st grade, he took his lunch from home. A peanut butter and honey sandwich, cheetos, a cookie and a capri sun. It's neat to watch him branch out and try new things. However, I feel there are lots of occasions, based on the menu, that I'm paying $1.75 for Trevor to drink his 1/2 pint of milk and eat the cookie or the bread. :o)
Cody is loving preschool. He's really looking forward to his pumpkin party tomorrow....and he's even practicing for his Christmas program where he will get to "stand up on the stage"! He has made lots of friends and preschool and looks forward to seeing them every MWF. Each week they study a different letter. This week is G week. It's fun to listen to him practice the new letter sound and figure out words that start with that letter. He is also practicing counting in Spanish. He enjoyed a field trip to the pumpkin patch a couple of weeks ago. It was a cool, cloudy and muddy trip, but it was fun.

Here are some pics from our updates.
