Yesterday was a full day. The boys had a Dr's appointment in the afternoon, so I decided to make the most of our outing. After the morning at home, we went to lunch--McDonald's and Subway. Trevor made the decision to eat Subway b/c "it's better for me". I was impressed. Cody, well, he's not there yet....he was happy with is Chicken Nuggets. :-) After lunch, we headed to the Dr's office where they had a great check-up....everything looks good. Trevor is in the 90th percentile in height (doesn't surprise us) and the 75th in weight. Not bad. Cody was 50th in height...so he's average and 25th percentile in weight...not surprising. :-) He's a pickier eater and he's so incredibly active that he burns anything he eats immediately...I'm sure of it. :-) Our Dr's office is a block away from a city park/pool and after their check-up I treated them to an afternoon at the pool. It started out cloudy yesterday, but by the time we went to lunch, the sun was coming out and was in full swing for our swimming. (that just makes it more enjoyable). We were all tired after our swimming and I was looking forward to a relaxed evening with early bedtimes.
After dinner, Nathan suggested a bike ride or a walk and we left the house for a quick walk. Our garage has a keypad entrance and Trevor asked to push the buttons to open the door. (With Nathan's supervision, of course) Somehow, he didn't push them all correctly, but pushed enough to max out the "tries" on the keypad and it locked itself....which meant we were locked out. (Nathan thought of this just as Trevor pushed the "last" button--but it was too late)And no other doors were unlocked. Or windows. So, we waited a few minutes in case the keypad could refresh itself and allow our code to open the doors.....to no avail. Nathan went to our next door neighbor's house and called his brother in case we had given him a key...he wasn't home. So, he called a locksmith....who said it would be at least 30-45 minutes before he could get out here. Sigh...... It was about 8:15 when Nathan went next door.....we sat on our front porch as evening turned into night...dodging the bugs that were swarming the porch light...that we couldn't turn off....b/c it was inside. Thankfully, there didn't seem to be too many mosquitos out, but it was very humid and we were all so tired. We had a nice time as a family sitting and singing songs or watching daddy catch bugs to throw into a spider web....boys...... The Locksmith arrived around 9:30ish and within 3 minutes, had us in our house. It cost us $50....but oh, the relief of being back in the house! This morning, Cody said...all are the doors open? :-) We are going to make sure we take a key with us on a walk from now on. There's no place like home! :-)

Wow! What a wonderful day for you and the boys...with lots of activity, lunch, fun swimming... and then what a memorable ending! I loved hearing about the busy day of activity for you and the boys. So soon school will be starting again...How quickly time passes. And my heart understood the frustration of being locked out...but sounds like with song and catching bugs you "made lemonade from the lemons"! Hope you are having a great weekend! Thanks for the "latest"!
Love you all!
