Watery Weekend

We all had fun in the water this weekend....in our own way. Libby had a pass to White Water for $10 since she works at the YMCA in Spfld (It's part of a promotional offer). She invited us along...but Nathan's mom came up this weekend too, so Trevor and I went with Libby and Nathan, Nana and Cody went canoeing. We all had a lot of fun. Trevor really enjoyed the bigger "kiddie" area at White Water (we didn't even know that area existed) where they have a huge water filled jungle gym and water slides just his speed. We spent a good portion of our time there. We finally got Trevor away from the kids area to check out the rest of the park and found the wave pool was closed temporarily for a hygine matter. :-) We rode on of the slide rides--where you sit on an intertube(sp?) and go down the water slide. Then we headed off to a larger raft ride. We waited 30 minutes for this ride and as we waited the sky began to grow darker and darker....we were about 10 people back from our turn and they shut down the rides due to lightening. We tried to wait it out, but they announced the storm was stationery and White Water would be closing. We ended up getting rain checks for our day, so now we get to go back again! Nathan, Cody and Nana took a canoe trip on Sugar Creek, which is about 30 minutes from here. This was Nana's first canoe trip. They had a good float fishing and throwing rocks....until about 15 mintues from the end....they hit an area with lots of logs under the water and got wedged on one. As Nathan tried to get free, Nana tried to balance them and they tipped. Everything went into the water. Poor Cody was TERRIFIED! They got themselves free and as they headed down to the take-out point, they encountered some fellow canoers who had a couple of items they lost in the tipping. It ended well, but Cody has sworn off canoeing for the time being! :-) We'll get him back in the paddle, I mean saddle later this summer! :-)

We had Libby's camera so we were able to take some pictures....Nathan didn't have a camera and now I'm kind of glad he didn't. :-)
