Wish You Were Here
Greetings from Fort Walton Beach, Florida! Through the modern marvels of WiFi I am able to post off of Nathan's work laptop in our resort room. We are having a quick breakfast and then headed back out to play in the waves...hoping to beat some storms headed this way. We haven't had the best weather...we drove down in rain off and on and despite wet roads, the cloudy skies made for nice driving. It was not too bad of a drive....L-O-N-G....but scenic. We took a different route this time than we did 4 years ago and it was enjoyable. It took us all the way down AR and into Louisiana for about an hour or so and then into Mississippi (the big rived looked full, but not near as bad as in MO) and we just cross into Alabama for about an hour before crossing into FL. This route had lots of two-lane highways and lots of little towns, which provides scenic views but slows down driving times a bit. It's always so interesting to see the different parts of the country. I was so intrigued by the "bayous" in LA and the trees that grow in the water--I will try to get a picture of them on the way home and post it. Back to my original thought, our weather. We were able to get out into the water yesterday for about 2 hours and then some storms blew in. It was cloudy most all day and there was a hint of a sunset on the horizon last night, but it's overcast again today with some storms in by noon. The boys had a BLAST at the beach. Trevor took right to the waves with Nathan and loved playing on his boogie board. Cody enjoyed sitting in the tide and letting the waves splash into him and pull the sand out from him. We heard about a jellyfish sighting and warned the boys not to touch anything in the water so they were timid about getting in....but they got over that. Well, I am being summoned to get my suit on--better got while it's somewhat nice out. Tomorrow looks to be better. We hope to hit our pirate cruise tonight. More later!
