Upwards

Trevor is playing Upward Basketball this winter. Upward strives to give every child an equal opportunity to play in the spirit of good sportsmanship. They also learn a bit about Jesus too. In addition to the ball players, there are cheerleaders too. Each cheerleader and then each player was introduced by grade, number and name....all to techno music--just like the "big boys" do! So fun! The cheerleaders even go out during breaks and do a cheer with jumps! :o) This is Trevor's first experience with basketball. We had our first game on Saturday, after only two practices! (One of the practices was cancelled due to bad weather). Trevor did so well for not ever playing before! He got to throw the ball in a few times, was able to dribble down court, and shot a couple of baskets--but didn't make the basket. He had a great time. It was such fun watching him! What a neat organization! We will have games every Saturday until the first of March.
Getting ready to play defense.
Trevor handling the ball. Each player has a colored "tag" so they can look for the matching color to know who they are guarding.
Throwing in the ball.End of the game....Trevor's got his arms up....as he did most of the game, whether he was playing offense or defense! He just wanted the ball. :o)

Trevor is so sweet! I am excited to come to a game, even if it is early on a Saturday. Maybe Feb 7 or 14, depending on what's going on that weekend?

I love that organization - our church does it too and we had 100 kids come out between basketball and cheerleaders - isn't that wonderful. And some of those kids may have never heard about Jesus otherwise!! What a true blessing - so glad you guys are doing it!!

That is so awesome! I bet Nathan was on cloud 9. Or was he yelling from the sidelines, "Come on Trevor, take the shot!" LOL. We wanted to get Jayden in Upward this year, but we missed enrollments, so we are on for next year. Jeff is super pumped. Tell Trevor Jayden says "Hello."
