Good Report

Parent-Teacher conferences were last night. Trevor had a great report. He is doing really well academically this quarter. On most things he is right where he "should be" for this time of year and this grade. His reading keeps on improving. We have to read a book every day and sign off on it. We also have to read a "story" which is a couple of paragraphs long and he is tested daily on the nubmer of words per minute he reads. It is designed to encourage reading confidence and proficiency. It's the same story all week long...so the more he reads it, the more familiar with the words he becomes. He read all the way through a story for the first time a couple of weeks ago and was so proud of himself that he feels challenged to complete each story he reads now. It's fun to see him feel accoomplished and so proud of himself. They are working on writing and spacing between the words. Trevor has a tendency to start writing and continue the words up the sides of the page. They don't flow from left to right as they should most of the time. :-) His teacher, Mrs. Mitchell, is so great. We really enjoy her. She loves having Trevor in her class and really enjoys him. She is compiling a notebook (3-ring binder type) of different papers from each quarter for the students. At the end of the year, we will get to keep this folders. She has papers from the first day of school, as well as different papers marking the stages of learning throughout each quarter. We've not had that before and I think it's great! What a lot of work she is doing!! God has more than heard and answered our prayers with Mrs. Mitchell!
